"At 31, I never thought this would be the year I would be in the best shape of my life, and certainly never thought this would be the year I would be participating in my first CrossFit Competition. My husband and I joined 04 Strength in June 2017 after close friends of ours who were members had nothing but great things to say about the owners and program. While we were both avid runners, we were still missing something from our workout regimen. After a couple months of debating, we finally decided to see what all the hype was about. This turned out being the BEST DECISION OF OUR LIFE!
I’ve been an athlete since I could walk, participating in numerous different sports, and one of the best things about 04 Strength is it provides me the opportunity to be involved in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere again. In this type of setting, it has become more than just a gym. It’s a family, a community, a motivating environment where you are constantly pushed to better yourself. I have built such strong relationships with the other members here and it is so empowering and encouraging to be able to watch each other grow day after day. It’s truly amazing to have such a large, close knit group of friends who have the same passion for maintaining a fit lifestyle as you. They have held me accountable and encouraged me on days when I needed the extra push. This competitive comradery is what gets me through those tough workouts.
Over the last several months since I started attending 04 Strength, I have lost 27 lbs. but I’ve gained so much more. I’ve realized my biggest accomplishment wasn’t the weight I had lost, but it is the muscle I have gained. My desire to be “skinny” and get that low number on the scale has been replaced with a yearning to build strength and power. The potential for growth is endless and I can’t wait to see where I am in another 6 months. I never thought I would look forward to getting up every morning for a workout class but now I wouldn’t want to start my day any other way.
