JINGLE BARBELLS

ABOUT "JINGLE BARBELLS"

"Jingle Barbells" is an hour long competition featuring back to back to back to back to back workouts of 12 minutes.  At first glance, this may seem a little overwhelming-But hold on!  The teams will consist of 4 members, 2 male, 2 female, sharing the load along the way!  THIS IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL EVENT! We are reaching out to Rx, intermediate, and scaled athletes looking to put their hobbies to the test!  (Check the Division Standards below to see where you fall)

The 04 decided to have co-ed teams of 4 for two reasons:

1) First of all, in the spirit of the holidays, we wanted to spot-light the importance of friends and family. Mixed gender teams of 4 sharing in the fun and building community is a perfect way to make this happen!

2) We want Jingle Barbells to appeal to those who may be a little timid or who may be first-timers.  Working as a large team can ease the anxiety and allow new comers to see that competitions are actually fun.  They are a great way to challenge one's self.  

  

Jingle Barbells will take place on the grounds of 04 Strength located at 1529 Junction hwy. There will be 5 diverse and creative workout pads.  Teams will move from pad to pad throughout the hour.  Each station will consist of a workout for time or reps or both to be completed in a 12 minute window.  The 12 minute stations will be back to back. The clock will NOT stop for transitions/rest, however not every workout will last the entire 12 minutes as to allow for smooth transitions from station to station.    

There will be 2 heats of 5 teams in every division.  Heat 1 will have warm up time on the barbell pad 15 minutes before the start of that heat at the top of the hour (ie. 8:00, 10:00, or 12:00).  Heat 2 will have 15 minutes on the same pad before its heat, which will begin 24 minutes after the hour.  Heat 2 will follow heat 1 through the stations but will be 2 events behind as to avoid any interference or any extra strategy from observing the group in front. Once both heats in a division have completed all 5 stations, the scores will be tabulated and the winners announced immediately following.  The next division will then begin and follow the same pattern.  See the Schedule of Events section below. 

DIVISION STANDARDS

 

RX Division Standards Minimum:

Athletes in this division are expected to be able to move the following weight efficiently:   

  • Cluster –Men 145

  • Clean –Women 145

  • Snatch -135/95

  • Thruster- 95/65

  • Pull-Ups, Double-Unders, Toes to Bar, Handstand Push-Ups, Rope Climbs

  • Proficiency performing any movements with Dumbbells (40lb)

  • Proficiency performing any movements with Kettlebells (53/35lb)

 

 

Intermediate Division Standards Minimum:

 

Athletes in this division are expected to be able to move the following weight efficiently:   

  • Cluster –Men 115

  • Clean –Women 115

  • Snatch - 95/65

  • Thruster- 95/65

  • Pull-Ups, Double-Unders, Toes to Bar, Rope Climbs

  • Proficiency performing any movements with Dumbbells (35lb)

  • Proficiency performing any movements with Kettlebells (53/35lb)

 

Scaled Division Standards Minimum:

 

Athletes in this division are expected to be able to move the following weight efficiently:   

  • Cluster –Men 65

  • Clean –Women 65

  • Snatch -75/55

  • Thruster- 75/55

  • Jumping Pull-Ups, Single-Unders, Knee raises

  • Proficiency performing any movements with Dumbbells (25lb)

  • Proficiency performing any movements with Kettlebells (35/25lb)

 

*All athletes must be familiar with a Concept 2 Rower.
